Save Cost On Ventilation And Cooling
Posted in Finance on October 30th, 2011 by BertWe would always go for better cooling and ventilation at home. This is one of the reasons why we would opt to have air conditioning at home. Since it uses a lot of electricity, it uses five percent of the electricity we use each year and that can cost a lot. But there other ways to ventilate your home and keep it cool while saving money. Knowing which ones to use can make a big difference for it.
The first one you can use is windows. Opening the windows can keep your home cool because of the cool breeze. It is a very easy and one of the more efficient ways to ventilate your home without using the air condition. If your curtains and windows are open all day, they will let the air in and circulate your home, making it cool. If you close the windows at night, it traps warm air and keeps you within warm termperatures at night. Better air circulation can also be gained during the day with fans.
Heat can be generated by electronics and appliances. Laptops generate a great deal of that. If you go for energy efficient appliances that are designed in refrigerators, washing machines and others that use less energy then that would produce less heat. With less heat, there would be less need to turn on air conditioning and make the house cooler. Make sure you unplug your gadgets like game consoles and laptops when not being used. Since they don’t generate heat when not used, it will lower your cost in electricity and keep the house cool.
You can also make changes at home. Having shade from trees can keep your home cool. You can also try re-insulating the house to use lesser energy and keep your home cool. If your home has a light colored siding and roofing then you can make your home much more cooler. Try to plant trees that would shade the windows as this can block sunlight, especially during summer time while cooling your home at the same time. These are cheaper alternatives to having to cool your home without spending so much. Use them to your advantage now and keep your home well ventilated.
